In August 2003 we started a little cattery with Norwegian forest cats.

From a visit at a cat show  we just "fell in loove:-).

The first Norwegian forest cat we bought was Vålandskogen’s Dakina.
Dakina’s temper and "calm behaviour" made us hooked on the Norwegian forest cats. We have had
housecats before and thought we knew what a cat could give from joy and entertainment, but we soon found out that
Norwegian forest cats was something special.

After a while we had a litter on our (N)Vålandskogen’s Dakina. Now we were really going
at it. The next one up was cat shows, and it was really fun.

The family has been engaged  in this for a long time and got many friends and got to know many nice people with
the same interests, from Norway, and also from the rest of the world.

Unfortunately having several cats in the house has its price, and this we got to know during developing
cat’s allergy inside the family.  We had to do something about it and we had to relocate some of the cats.

Today we only have two cats staying with us, and with "daily extreme cleaning" and airing it now looks like we have found
a good balance. Not having a forest cat in the house at all isn’t something our family see’s
as an option. The Norwegian forest cat has become an essential part of our family.
